Welcome to Yoga with Sami

I’m Sami Woods, a qualified British Wheel of Yoga instructor (Hatha, Menopause and Yin) and sound and reiki healer. My goal is to bring calm into your life through yoga and sound therapy. I trained with Norman Blair in London for Yin Yoga training- a style of yoga which really frees the joints and connective tissue to allow you to relax more deeply.

I teach classes and one to one yoga sessions in beautiful East Devon, in Exmouth, Woodbury and Budleigh. I also offer sound baths.

Working with me, we will harness the power of your breath and movement to improve your posture, balance and strength.

I have a dance and fitness background and have been teaching yoga for 15 years. I continue to develop my yoga knowledge and learning with courses and training workshops.

I am always updating my knowledge and diving more deeply into the world of Ayurveda (Indian medicine and way of life). 

I am a Reiki 2 healer and can offer this along with sound therapy and yoga in sessions in a safe space especially to help your wellbeing.

What is Yoga?

Yoga, translated literally from ancient Sanskrit, means yoke or union. 

This union refers to the bringing together of the mind, body and spirit. More accurately this is posture, breath, mind and relaxation. 

When we find a connection between mind, body and spirit, we can create a wholly unified self and a healthy lifestyle. 

I like to think of Yoga as a freedom. Freedom from the load that our minds often carry unconsciously.

Taking part in regular yoga classes will bring relaxation and calm into your life and can help with ailments of a busy life such as insomnia, depression and anxiety.

If you suffer from joint problems in your knees, hips or shoulders or with back and neck issues, yoga can work wonders to help relieve your symptoms and bring back a feeling of freedom.

What is Sound Healing?

As well as a physical body, we have an energetic body, and our chakras (energy centres). Like everything is in a state of vibration, so like when the body is out of balance or has blocked energies, sound healing will reset and re-align your vibrations, allowing you to deeply relax and allow healing to take place.

The crystal singing bowls will bring your brain waves into theta and delta states which are associated with deep relaxation.

How I Can Help You?

Are you juggling children, the home, a career and pets? Maybe not all of them, however, these can all cause stress and sleepless nights in our lives, especially in our middle-age. Trying to find time for your physical and mental well-being can add to that stress.

Yoga can help in a short amount of time.

My sound baths and yoga classes, can help keep the mind attentive freeing it up from the daily routine.  

Yoga breathing techniques, called pranayama, are used to exercise the respiratory system, reduce stress and bring calmness to the emotions and a new perspective. Yoga postures, called asanas are used to create balance in the body through strength and flexibility. 

Sound baths will reset and re-align your energy levels, allowing you to deeply relax and allow healing to take place.

By connecting the body, mind and breath we can aid relaxation and brings about a state of balance and harmony.
